Hideo Kojima recently offered his insights on "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," expressing considerable admiration for the film.

On Twitter, the iconic video game creator discussed his impressions of the movie, noting its significance, especially against the backdrop of Adam Wingard's direction. Followers of Kojima's film critiques might recall his silent stance on "Madame Web," which contrasts deeply with his elaborate discussion on this latest kaiju epic.

"As a kid, I was utterly fascinated by the monster films showcased in the Toho Champion Festival," Kojima stated. He recalled the conversational "speech bubbles" between Godzilla and Anguirus in "Godzilla vs. Gigan," illustrating his long-standing affinity for monster cinema.

He admired the movie's ability to transcend traditional Toho elements, producing a film that focuses on the essence of monster narratives—action, combat, evolution, and emotion—minimizing human interference. Kojima highlighted the film's nuanced depiction of camaraderie, akin to temporary alliances seen in yakuza films, and praised its emotional depth. The early scene where Kong experiences a dental issue was pointed out as a tonal indicator for the film.

Adam Wingard, returning after "Godzilla vs. Kong," directs this installment where Godzilla and Kong momentarily unite against a shared foe: the Skar King, a formidable ancient creature eager to unleash chaos upon the world. The cast includes Dan Stevens, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, and Rebecca Hall among others.

Wingard's affinity for cinematic influences, including Michael Mann's "Thief," notably shapes the film's narrative, particularly in relation to Kong's character development, akin to James Caan's portrayal in the classic film.
