Blue Protocol's Western Release Delayed to 2024

The highly anticipated action MMORPG Blue Protocol, a joint venture between Bandai Namco and Amazon Games, has experienced a setback in its roadmap. Initially planned for a 2023 release, the game's Western launch has been pushed to 2024. The announcement came as a surprise after much excitement was built around the game following its reveal at The Game Awards 2022.

While disappointing for fans eagerly awaiting the game, the delay comes with some clarification from the developers. In a recent announcement made via Twitter, Blue Protocol confirmed its Japanese release date of June 14 but had to admit that its Western counterpart needs more time. Among the reasons cited for this setback were localization efforts, which are critical for adapting such an ambitious project to different markets.

It is not all bad news for fans of Blue Protocol, though. Amidst the announcement of delays, there was also confirmation that the PC closed beta test is still on track to occur later this year. This means that at least a select group of players will get their hands on this promising title sooner than anticipated.

This bump in the timeline may not be entirely negative long term. Often in game development, delays are necessary to ensure that certain technical or creative aspects come together correctly and meet high-quality expectations set by both developers and players alike. By aiming for a successful launch in Japan first and giving themselves more time on localization efforts abroad, Bandai Namco and Amazon Games may be better positioned to deliver an unforgettable experience when Blue Protocol finally makes its way Westward.

In summary, though it may come as a disappointment initially, the delay of Blue Protocol's Western release might lead to an overall stronger product once it reaches our shores in 2024. Until then, fans can eagerly await further developments surrounding the game, including impressions from the closed beta test later this year.
