The casting of voice talent in animated series can frequently unveil astonishing insights regarding the character selection process. In the case of the popular show "Invincible," one notable actor was initially considered for a different role, showcasing the behind-the-scenes decisions that shape our favorite characters.

Throughout the initial seasons of "Invincible," certain actors have become emblematic in their roles. Steven Yeun embodies Mark Grayson, Gillian Jacobs portrays Atom Eve, Walton Goggins is iconic as Cecil, Sandra Oh plays Debbie Grayson, and J.K. Simmons has made a lasting impression as Nolan Grayson, also known as Omni-Man.

Since the animated series launched, the character of Omni-Man has appeared in various other media, including titles like Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat 1, largely thanks to Simmons's remarkable performance. However, it turns out that J.K. Simmons was not the top candidate for this position, as he shared during a recent interview with Collider.

Simmons revealed that Robert Kirkman, the creator, initially envisioned someone else for the part. He interestingly stated that he lacked experience with the source material and hadn’t been deeply engaged with that genre before. After reviewing the script, he found it intriguing, despite it not being something he typically consumed. At one point, the creators approached him about a different character, and even though he found it fascinating, he ultimately felt it was not quite the right match for him.

Eventually, the opportunity to voice Nolan came his way, and he was enthusiastic about it, remarking that it would be entertaining considering it was an animated project. This change in direction led to a performance that has been praised and cherished by fans. It raises an interesting question: if Simmons hadn’t lent his voice to Omni-Man, who do you believe would have been a suitable alternative for such a significant role?
