Greenroom: New Spotify’s Audio Platform
Audio platforms, where people can communicate on different themes, became popular not so far ago. Still, many huge companies offer their applications for audio chats. Spotify announced their new tool Greenroom recently.
Since that time, more than 140 thousand iOS users have downloaded it, according to the official Sensor Tower rating. Some of these uploads, like a platform called Locker Room (a Greenroom’s predecessor), had been made a little earlier.
However, it hasn't gained much popularity with only about 30 thousand downloads. Also, these numbers don’t show the real situation. Some people upload the application, use it once, and forget about it for months. So, there are fewer active users, but the platform is still at No. 12 among the other audio platforms.
Greenroom was released on July 16, 2021. Since then, about 100 thousand Android users have tried it on their devices. However, the Locker Room says this information is not confirmed. The application follows the Tin Can, which had 127 thousand downloads after its launch in March 2021.
A lot of time should pass before Greenroom becomes as widespread as Clubhouse or Lizhi. The most used app across Android and iOS customers is Yalla. It has about 48 million total installs. Of course, it took a lot of time for it to establish itself on the market.
Among other similar platforms are Airtime with 14 million downloads, Stereo with about 4 million users, and Spoon with its 27 million ratings. Such huge social networks as Facebook and Twitter also added audio platforms recently.
Spotify has about 365 active users monthly, and this number continues to grow. That means Greenroom hasn’t become popular among people who use Spotify. But since this platform has just appeared, the number of its uploads might increase soon.
