Meta's messenger WhatsApp is preparing an additional feature set for Android mobile and desktop application versions. In the next update, users can get new sketching tools with new pencil capabilities. These several future features are still under development, so the final result may still change.

What New Tools Are Coming for Us?

According to a WABetaInfo report, the latest beta version of WhatsApp found two out of three future pencils in the built-in image editor. The icons of the new tools have larger tips, which means that they may be designed to draw wider lines. It might be a plausible guess because the editor allows you to change the color of the pencil, but there is no way to increase or decrease the thickness of the tools.

We may also see a tool to blur the image in the next update. This tool is a convenient way to hide unwanted objects on an image for sending it to another user. In addition, there are other additional drawing tools under development, but there is no information on them. The release dates are also unknown, but the end of beta testing will require the developers to clarify this information.

WhatsApp Far Ahead of the Competition

Notably, the competing Telegram application offers a wider optimized range of features for editing and chat in general. But WhatsApp remains the leading position in the number of downloads from mobile stores applications and has approximately 2 billion active users worldwide.

Moreover, Telegram on the Android platform has recently reached 1 billion downloads in the Play Store, compared to 5 billion downloads for WhatsApp. How often do you use WhatsApp, and what new tools would you like to see?
