Given the continuously changing environment of the gaming industry narratives, fans often speculate about the future of beloved franchises. Recently, there has been a shift in statements concerning Geralt of Rivia and his involvement in the upcoming chapter of The Witcher saga.

Doug Cockle, who lends his voice to Geralt in The Witcher games, previously suggested that the character might appear in the forthcoming game, although not as the lead protagonist. However, he has since retracted those comments after a discussion with CD Projekt Red. Cockle clarified that his earlier remarks stemmed from unverified information, leaving him uncertain about the specifics of Geralt’s involvement in the upcoming project, temporarily titled Project Polaris.

As of now, CD Projekt Red has kept tight-lipped regarding the storyline and characters of the new game, although they have hinted that it will initiate a fresh trilogy within The Witcher universe. A teaser image has hinted at the introduction of a new Witcher protagonist, and more than 400 developers are currently engaged in the creation of the game. Furthermore, Cockle indicated that he is restricted by a non-disclosure agreement and is unable to divulge any additional details.

The question remains: should Geralt maintain his status as the central figure in The Witcher 4, or is it time for a new character to take center stage?
