Recent developments at Perplexity AI have brought forth new features designed to enhance user experience on their artificial intelligence search platform. The company has unveiled two innovative functionalities: Internal Knowledge Search and Spaces. The former offers users the ability to search queries and receive insights based on a personalized internal knowledge repository, while the latter serves as a collaborative environment, allowing users to work together on search initiatives. These enhancements are exclusively accessible to those holding paid memberships, such as Perplexity Pro and Perplexity Enterprise Pro.

In a recent announcement, Perplexity AI detailed the introduction of its Internal Knowledge Search. This feature empowers users to seek answers from an internal database they have populated. Previously, users could upload documents for responses, but now they can attain a unified response that synthesizes information from both their uploaded files and broader web searches. This streamlined approach enables users to establish a framework for the types of responses they desire while utilizing web resources to access information presented in a user-friendly manner. The company indicated this adaptation stemmed from substantial user demand.

The focus seems to be on the needs of enterprise clients. The CEO of Perplexity emphasized the historic gap in comprehensive web research relevant to specific businesses. According to them, uniting all research across both in-house and external data sources within a singular knowledge platform could facilitate significant productivity improvements for organizations.

The second new functionality, Perplexity Spaces, is aimed at promoting collaboration among users who subscribe to the service. This feature enables several participants to collectively conduct research and manage information. Anyone granted access to a Space can establish it and invite collaborators, such as colleagues or acquaintances, to contribute their internal documents. Participants can also customize the AI model and specify guidelines for how the chatbot should address inquiries.

Regarding data privacy and security, Perplexity has assured users that the platform will provide a safeguarded environment for conducting research, alleviating concerns about data safety. Nonetheless, the company has yet to clarify whether the AI system will utilize user-generated data from Spaces for further training.

Moreover, Perplexity announced plans to implement integration with external data services like Crunchbase and FactSet for Enterprise Pro members. Subscribers can leverage these platforms to incorporate additional information into their internal knowledge repositories.
