Nightfall Ascendant: Vampire Counts Revitalized and Cataclysmic Campaigns Unleashed

Total War: Warhammer III now introduces a comprehensive update that revamps the Vampire Counts faction while also launching dramatic campaign scenarios. This free content update arrives alongside premium additions such as Lord Packs and other DLC, and it brings a full redesign of the Vampire Counts, a new legendary leader, and challenging end-game events that will test the strength of your armies.

The update brings long-awaited improvements to the Vampire Counts. The recruitment approach has been completely rethought; rather than relying on a reserve of lower-quality units, there are now limits on every unit type. Reinforcements can be summoned by raising fallen recruits from almost anywhere, and buildings within settlements will help to increase these unit caps. Two new resources have been introduced: one that provides the necessary elements for recruiting weaker units and another that is produced when certain structures transform these elements into a more valuable asset, which also offers additional strategic benefits such as convincing other Vampire Counts leaders to join your cause.

Dedicated lairs further enhance the gameplay by allowing vampire lords to operate with greater uniqueness. These lairs offer options to invest time in resource accumulation before unleashing mighty units or to prepare a powerful leader for immediate command, making the process of building your forces either a slow burn or a swift strike.

The end-game challenges now feature three cataclysmic events involving prominent factions, each reshaping the campaign map with new lighting and terrain changes. The events include a unification of chaos-aligned forces under a single warlord, a consolidated uprising by subterranean rodent factions emerging from their hiding places, and the full mobilization of the undead under a dire authority. These dramatic shifts mark the arrival of a conclusive era that tests every faction either to stave off or to usher in a world-altering finale.
