Recently, it was revealed that NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind Mortal Kombat and Injustice, had dissolved its mobile division, signaling the termination of jobs for more than 50 employees. This development raised questions about the fate of numerous live-service mobile games currently being managed by the studio.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, is one game facing termination. This spin-off team-based action RPG, which was introduced for iOS and Android platforms last October, is being retired by NetherRealm Studios. The studio announced that the game would no longer be available for sale on both platforms starting July 22, while in-game purchases would continue until August 23. After this date, and just over one year after its release, the game will be entirely removed from service, becoming unplayable.

At the moment, it's uncertain what will happen to NetherRealm Studios’ other mobile titles, including Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice 2. However, considering recent events, there seems to be little reason for hope for their survival.
